Could Not Ask For More

The inexplicable and divine unity of music, love and celebration was reinforced for me tonight. True love stories are gifts from the best of the human condition. Ancient Greece recognized in their infinite intelligence that the tremendous defining ability of being human is the concept of love. It is protection from the defeatism of our mortality and had to be secured for eternity in the Gods lest suffer the cruel and fragile nature of the worst of the human condition.

Tonight at the Liberty Grand in Toronto was an outstanding place to be for reflecting on the elusive meaning of life. It was also an undeniably amazing coalescence of talent, honesty, dignity and creativity. Great music played straight from the soul elevates the solemnity of a celebration and communicates an intangible quality of grace and magic. Tonight my incredible friends Michael and Maral turned to songs to tell us how they felt about each other their family, friends and dearly departed. And in a seldom seen occasion where a community of world class musicians were given an opportunity to sing songs and play music for an occasion celebrating the fulfillment of the hopes and dreams that songs are written about was more than anyone could ask for and an unparalled event for me in my recent musical memory.

The deepest expression of our being finds its home in art. We betray our constructed formalism and stoic passivity to the moving and frightening realities of modern life when we give ourselves over to the moments of freedom that music demands of us. I am humbled and proud to have been not just present but a participant in an honest expression of love between to people that commanded my respect before tonight but have now solidified my deep and heartfelt affection for them. Tonight a modern mythology of love and happiness was created and a layer of cynicism and skepticism was stripped off many weary but still hopeful believers in the goodness of life. On behalf of the band I extend our warmest congratulations and sincerest wishes of success and a life of love, health and happiness for Michael and Maral.
